ANC 's Moses Mabhida Regional Elective Conference postponed again

The ANC’s Moses Mabhida Regional Elective Conference has been postponed.

The party had announced that the Moses Mabhida and Harry Gwala Regions will hold their conferences starting today.

These two regions have faced some difficult times before as members have not been united, making it hard for the regions to elect their new leaders.

Spokesperson, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, says the conference cannot go on and will be postponed indefinitely:

"Due to circumstances that are beyond the control of the PEC, the conference had to be postponed indefinitely until leadership meets and engages with issues. We know that there were issues that were raised by some of our comrades in relation to the planning of the conference. As a result of that, some members went to court to interdict. The leadership than engaged with the comrades who went to court to try and have a settlement or a negotiation with them on what the issues were. As a result of that the leadership decided to postpone the conference until further notice."

Meanwhile proceedings for the Harry Gwala District elective conference have commenced.

The conference is taking place at the Peace Initiative Hall in Ixopo, South of the province where Deputy Chairperson, Mike Mabuyakhulu, will address the conference.

Simelane-Zulu says they don’t foresee any interruptions with Harry Gwala.

"We are on course, we are busy with registration at the moment. We don’t foresee any challenges in Harry Gwala because the plans have been laid out and they are being followed. We met last night where all reports were presented to the comrades who are sitting in the regional counsel and were adopted as a result we believe that the conference will go ahead without any interruptions," says Simelane-Zulu.
