Tiger Brands’s Enterprise Foods and RCL Foods might not survive the current listeriosis scandal

The Free Market Foundation says it believes that Tiger Brands’s Enterprise Foods and RCL Foods might not survive the current listeriosis scandal that has hit South Africa.

A total of 948 laboratory-confirmed cases of the food-borne disease and 180 deaths were recorded from January last year to March this year.

The outbreak has caused panic amongst South Africans, with many questioning the food they eat on a daily basis.

Health Minister Aaron Motshoaledi has however warned gainst the consumption of Enterprise ready to eat foods, which include polony, viennas and russians.

The World Health Organisation has called the outbreak the largest ever recorded globally.

The foundation’s Leon Louw says it will be hard for consumers to trust these brands again.
