The 2018-19 Absa Premiership season kicked off in style over the weekend with all fixtures producing goals.

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs played to a 1-1 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon with defenders Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Ricardo Nascimento scoring for their respective teams.

Caster Semenya opened the weekend in style, paving the way for a busy three-day period for South African athletes on the IAAF Diamond League circuit.

Semenya stormed to victory in 1:54.60, clocking the second fastest 800m time of her career at the 10th leg of the series in Monaco on Friday night.


Cricket South Africa (CSA) held its elite women's fast bowlers camp at the Powerade Centre of Excellence in Pretoria on Tuesday.

The purpose of the camp was to take stock of the fast bowler depth the country has as well as the progress of the players from the Momentum Proteas squad and the Powerade National Academy.
