Geleza ne Gagasi- a Gagasi FM Tertiary Initiative

Who can apply: Previously disadvantaged students, with a strong academic background, who are accepted as Undergraduate students in 2017. Parents or legal guardians of the abovementioned students can also apply on the student’s behalf.

Documents needed to apply:

  • Motivational letter stating the reason for assistance and the kind of assistant that is needed eg; assistance with registration fees for 2017 or assistance towards paying for 2016’s fees or assistance towards tertiary tools like; text books or equipment that will be needed during the study year- 2017

  • A copy of an academic record, proving excellent academic performance in 2016 must be e-mailed to: tertiary@gagasi995.co.za or faxed to: 031 566 6801. For High School leavers (Matriculants), an acceptance letter from their desired institution must be submitted along with their matric certificate

Assistance provided:

Should a student be selected by our auditor, Gagasi FM will pay a maximum of R5 000 towards the student’s needs.

Gagasi FM will offer 10 bursaries to different students. Each bursary shall be a maximum of R5000. Therefore the total money available will be R50 000.

The allocation of the bursaries lies solely with Gagasi FM and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

Gagasi FM will contact successful candidates telephonically between Monday, 23 January 2017 and Friday, 27 January 2017. Should you not be contacted by then, please consider your application to be unsuccessful.

Once candidates have been identified, they will be expected to submit the following information so that their bursaries can be handed over to them:

  • A letter of acceptance from their desired institution with the institution’s banking details and registration fee.

  • A statement from the institution detailing the amount due for 2016 and the institution’s banking details.

  • Should the student also wish to use the bursary towards books or equipment needed for their studies, a letter from the tertiary’s bookshop (on the shop’s letterhead) detailing the books and/or equipment needed for the year and the amount due and banking details needs to be sent to Gagasi FM
